Chiffre de Vigen\u00e8re<\/h2>\n

Marie-Antoinette chiffrait ses lettres par substitution poly-alphab\u00e9tique, selon la m\u00e9thode d\u00e9crite par Blaise de Vigen\u00e8re plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment. Cette m\u00e9thode suppose de disposer d\u2019une table de chiffrement, si possible une par destinataire. Voici comment se pr\u00e9sentait ces tables\u00a0:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On notera que ce tableau ne contient que 22 lettres, les lettres manquantes sont J, K, U et W, ce qui correspond \u00e0 un usage venant du latin o\u00f9 I et J d\u2019un c\u00f4t\u00e9, U et V de l\u2019autre sont confondues. K peut \u00eatre remplac\u00e9 par C et W par V.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Clef de chiffrement<\/h2>\n

L\u2019utilisation de ce tableau pour chiffrer demande une clef secr\u00e8te qu\u2019on partage avec le destinataire. Par exemple, si la clef est sel<\/em>, pour chiffrer la premi\u00e8re lettre, on utilise la ligne dont la premi\u00e8re colonne est ST, D est alors chang\u00e9 en N (et N en D), E en O, etc. Pour chiffrer la seconde, on utilise la ligne dont la premi\u00e8re colonne est EF.<\/p>\n

Utilisation correcte<\/h2>\n

C\u2019est pour cela que, on ne sait quel cryptologue avait conseill\u00e9 \u00e0 Marie-Antoinette de ne chiffrer qu\u2019une lettre sur deux ce qui, en fournissant des rep\u00e8res, simplifie grandement le chiffrement mais l\u2019affaiblit tout aussi grandement. Le d\u00e9cryptement sans conna\u00eetre la clef est ainsi facilit\u00e9, surtout si on conna\u00eet le tableau de chiffrement. C\u2019est ici que des talents de cruciverbiste sont utiles. En effet, on peut deviner un mot si on en conna\u00eet une lettre sur deux comme ici J-V-U-A-M, qui est transparent pour tout amateur de mots crois\u00e9s. Ensuite, on sait que la premi\u00e8re lettre de la clef transforme E en O ce qui ne se produit que pour ST, en continuant ainsi, on d\u00e9crypte le message quel que soit sa longueur.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
