Ses projets \u00e9voluent \u00e0 la vitesse grand v, et un an apr\u00e8s avoir pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 en octobre 2016 son vaisseau pharaonique ITS (International Transport System) de 10\u00a0000 tonnes, propuls\u00e9 par 42 r\u00e9acteurs au d\u00e9collage (voir notre blog de l\u2019\u00e9poque), voil\u00e0 que l\u2019excentrique ing\u00e9nieur revoit son projet \u00e0 la baisse.<\/p>\n<p>Dans sa nouvelle mouture baptis\u00e9e BFR (Big Falcon Rocket ou Big <em>Fucking<\/em> Rocket pour les initi\u00e9s), le premier \u00e9tage passe de 6\u00a0700 tonnes, 78\u00a0m de longueur, 12\u00a0m de diam\u00e8tre et donc 42 moteurs, \u00e0 un \u00ab\u00a0modeste\u00a0\u00bb 3\u00a0000 tonnes, 58\u00a0m de longueur, 9\u00a0m de diam\u00e8tre et 31 moteurs, dont la puissance unitaire a elle aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 revue \u00e0 la baisse, de 350 \u00e0 175 tonnes de pouss\u00e9e chacun. Le second \u00e9tage ou \u00ab\u00a0vaisseau\u00a0\u00bb n\u2019a plus que 7 moteurs \u00ab\u00a0brid\u00e9s\u00a0\u00bb au lieu des 9 gros moteurs du projet initial, et ne p\u00e8se plus que 1\u00a0300 tonnes au lieu de 2\u00a0100 tonnes. R\u00e9sultat des courses\u00a0: ce sont 150 tonnes de charge utile plut\u00f4t que 300 tonnes qui peuvent \u00eatre lanc\u00e9s en orbite basse. Le r\u00e9alisme \u00e9conomique ensuite\u00a0: un engin du nouveau calibre propos\u00e9 trouvera plus d\u2019applications, en orbite terrestre basse et en banlieue lunaire, que la premi\u00e8re version qui avait uniquement la colonisation de Mars comme objectif.
