J’ai eu la chance d’aller visiter l’Observatoire du Gran Tecan<\/a> aux \u00eeles Canaries. Son instrument principal est un t\u00e9lescope <\/a>g\u00e9ant de 10,40 m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre mais le site abrite d’autres installations astronomiques comme par exemple le MAGIC t\u00e9lescope.<\/p>\n

MAGIC signifie Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov<\/em>. Il s’agit de deux t\u00e9lescopes identiques de 17 m de diam\u00e8tre (chacun \u00e9tant constitu\u00e9 d’une mosa\u00efque de petits miroirs) destin\u00e9s \u00e0 \u00e9tudier les sursauts gamma.<\/p>\n

Les sursauts gamma sont des rayonnements \u00e0 tr\u00e8s haute \u00e9nergie \u00e9mis lors de ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes cosmiques violents qui se produisent au sein d’astres exotiques : noyau actif de galaxie, pulsar, trou noir….<\/p>\n

Lorsque les rayons gamma traversent l’atmosph\u00e8re terrestre ils produisent une cascade de particules dont la lumi\u00e8re bleut\u00e9e est capt\u00e9e et analys\u00e9e par les deux t\u00e9lescopes MAGIC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
