Aujourd&#8217;hui voici Pan, un satellite d&#8217;un peu moins de 30 km de diam\u00e8tre d\u00e9couvert en juillet 1990 par l&#8217;astronome am\u00e9ricain\u00a0Mark Robert Showalter sur des images acquises par la sonde<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2016\/06\/16\/voyager-2-immortalisait-neptune-triton\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em> Voyager 2<\/em><\/a> lors de son survol de Saturne 9 ans plus t\u00f4t.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/pan2.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[6488]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6489\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/pan2-450x450.jpg\" alt=\"pan2\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/pan2-450x450.jpg 450w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/pan2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/pan2-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/pan2.jpg 855w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pan (qui orbite \u00e0 un peu plus de 133.000 km du centre de Saturne) \u00a0est observable \u00e0 l&#8217;int\u00e9rieur de la division d&#8217;Encke (nomm\u00e9e\u00a0en hommage \u00e0 l&#8217;astronome allemand Johann Franz Encke), un espace vide de 325 km de large \u00e0 l&#8217;int\u00e9rieur de l&#8217;anneau A, le plus externe des deux anneaux les plus brillants de la plan\u00e8te.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Pan y joue le r\u00f4le de satellite berger en ratissant tout ce qui se trouve dans la division d&#8217;Encke dont il assure l&#8217;existence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/anneaux_saturne.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[6488]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6490\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/anneaux_saturne-450x225.jpg\" alt=\"anneaux_saturne\" width=\"450\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/anneaux_saturne-450x225.jpg 450w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/anneaux_saturne-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/anneaux_saturne.jpg 816w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Les petits satellites de Saturne comme Pan (mais \u00e9galement Atlas, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2016\/06\/23\/mimas-promethee-devant-anneaux-de-saturne\/\" target=\"_blank\">Prom\u00e9th\u00e9e<\/a>, \u00c9pim\u00e9th\u00e9e, Pandore et Janus pour ne citer que les plus importants) ne sont pas n\u00e9s comme les autres satellites au d\u00e9but de la formation du Syst\u00e8me solaire, mais sont beaucoup plus jeunes (ils nous montrent des surfaces glac\u00e9es brillantes qui n&#8217;ont pas \u00e9t\u00e9 alt\u00e9r\u00e9es par plusieurs milliards d&#8217;ann\u00e9es de bombardement m\u00e9t\u00e9oritique).<\/p>\n<p>Des simulations num\u00e9riques ont montr\u00e9 que ces jeunes lunes se sont form\u00e9es en quelques dizaines de millions d&#8217;ann\u00e9es seulement.
