La com\u00e8te, qui circulait lentement dans la <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/04\/25\/simeis-147-un-remanent-de-supernova-dans-le-taureau\/\" target=\"_blank\">constellation du Taureau<\/a>, \u00e9tait alors de magnitude 16.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/comete2.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[6466]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-6468\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/comete2-300x450.jpg\" alt=\"comete2\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/comete2-300x450.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/comete2-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/comete2-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/10\/comete2.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>En 1936 la com\u00e8te est pass\u00e9e \u00e0 seulement 0,13 Unit\u00e9 Astronomique de la plan\u00e8te gazeuse g\u00e9ante <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2016\/09\/12\/juno-enregistre-aurore-polaire-australe-jupiter\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jupiter<\/a>, ce qui a consid\u00e9rablement modifi\u00e9 son orbite. C&#8217;est l&#8217;astronome am\u00e9ricain Robert George Harrington qui la retrouva par hasard le 4 octobre 1951 depuis l&#8217;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/definitions\/astronomie-observatoire-mont-palomar-4769\/\" target=\"_blank\">Observatoire du Mont Palomar<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Les noms de Wolf et Harrington sont d\u00e9sormais associ\u00e9s pour d\u00e9signer cette com\u00e8te dont la p\u00e9riode orbitale est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 6 ans et qui ne brille jamais beaucoup : au cours de son meilleur passage, en 1997, elle a atteint la magnitude 12 mais en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral on l&#8217;observe autour de la magnitude 16 lors de ses passages au p\u00e9rih\u00e9lie. Les astronomes estiment que le noyau de cet astre chevelu doit avoir un diam\u00e8tre de 3,5 kilom\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;image ci-dessus est l&#8217;\u0153uvre de l&#8217;astrophotographe italien <a href=\"https:\/\/www.astrobin.com\/users\/astroligu60\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rolando Ligustri<\/a> qui a photographi\u00e9 la com\u00e8te le 5 octobre en pilotant \u00e0 distance l&#8217;un des t\u00e9lescopes automatis\u00e9s install\u00e9s au Nouveau-Mexique du r\u00e9seau <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itelescope.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">iTelescope<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seuls de puissants t\u00e9lescopes peuvent suivre actuellement le passage de la com\u00e8te 43P\/Wolf-Harrington, un astre chevelu de faible \u00e9clat.
