C&#8217;est l&#8217;une des plus grandes r\u00e9gions H II (hydrog\u00e8ne ionis\u00e9) de la <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/10\/05\/du-mont-elbrouz-jaillissent-les-etoiles-de-la-voie-lactee\/\" target=\"_blank\">Voie lact\u00e9e<\/a> : elle couvre une surface apparente de 3 degr\u00e9s (soit six fois la <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/11\/02\/en-video-la-pleine-lune-se-leve-en-australie\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pleine Lune<\/a>) ce qui, \u00e0 une distance de pr\u00e8s de 9000 ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re repr\u00e9sente une taille r\u00e9elle d&#8217;environ 460 ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/eso.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[4417]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4418\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/eso-450x300.jpg\" alt=\"eso\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/eso-450x300.jpg 450w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/eso-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/eso.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;objet le plus spectaculaire de la n\u00e9buleuse est l&#8217;\u00e9toile <em>Eta Carinae<\/em>, une hyperg\u00e9ante variable bleue. Nous voyons \u00e0 peine cet astre \u00e0 l&#8217;\u0153il nu (sa magnitude est de 6,2), mais il a pourtant une masse 150 \u00e0 300 fois plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e que celle du <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/08\/15\/dans-la-mer-le-soleil-est-encore-plus-beau\/\" target=\"_blank\">Soleil <\/a>et brille 5 millions de fois plus fort.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->En 1843 les astronomes ont vu <em>Eta Carinae<\/em> devenir la seconde \u00e9toile la plus brillante du ciel apr\u00e8s <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/04\/11\/sirius-brille-au-dessus-du-monastere-grec-de-giromeri\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sirius<\/a> : la lumi\u00e8re d&#8217;une explosion survenue 8000 ans plus t\u00f4t arrivait jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 nous.\u00a0De cette explosion naquit une n\u00e9buleuse dot\u00e9e de deux lobes sym\u00e9triques (la n\u00e9buleuse de l&#8217;Homunculus) qui mesure actuellement la taille du Syst\u00e8me solaire.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;image ci-dessus a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise par l\u2019astrophotographe <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/06\/15\/penitents-de-glace-sous-les-etoiles-dans-le-desert-datacama\/\" target=\"_blank\">Babak Tafreshi<\/a>\u00a0(fondateur de <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/11\/25\/en-video-les-images-gagnantes-du-concours-earth-and-sky\/\" target=\"_blank\">TWAN<\/a>) dans le cadre d&#8217;un projet de r\u00e9alisation d&#8217;images en Ultra Haute D\u00e9finition pour l&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/france\/images\/potw1548a\/\" target=\"_blank\">ESO<\/a>.
