Visite guid\u00e9e.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les espagnols l&#8217;ont surnomm\u00e9 Gran Tecan (pour <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gtc.iac.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Gran Telescopio Canarias<\/em><\/a>) : situ\u00e9 \u00e0 2.400 m d\u2019altitude sur l\u2019\u00eele de La Palma aux Canaries, le GTC est un t\u00e9lescope g\u00e9ant (300 tonnes monture comprise) qui fait partie de l\u2019Observatoire del Roque de los Muchachos, adoss\u00e9 \u00e0 la caldeira vertigineuse de Taburiente.<\/p>\n<p>Au-dessus des nuages et de la <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2014\/06\/28\/pollution-lumineuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pollution lumineuse<\/a>, le Grand T\u00e9lescope des Canaries b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie du meilleur ciel de l&#8217;h\u00e9misph\u00e8re nord avec moins de 20 jours de pluie par an. Inaugur\u00e9 en 2007 par le Roi d\u2019Espagne, le GTC est l&#8217;un des plus grands t\u00e9lescopes du monde : abrit\u00e9 sous une coupole de 32 m de diam\u00e8tre, son miroir primaire est compos\u00e9 de 36 miroirs hexagonaux d\u2019une surface collectrice totale de 75,7 m\u00b2 ; cela repr\u00e9sente l\u2019\u00e9quivalent d\u2019un miroir sph\u00e9rique de 10,4 m de diam\u00e8tre.<\/p>\n<p>Pour ne pas interrompre les observations, 6 miroirs hexagonaux \u00abde secours\u00bb permettent de prendre r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement la place de ceux qu\u2019on enl\u00e8ve du Gran Tecan pour les r\u00e9aluminer dans une cuve de 12 000 litres situ\u00e9e \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9tage inf\u00e9rieur. Le GTC dispose d&#8217;une optique adaptative pour corriger les effets n\u00e9fastes de la turbulence atmosph\u00e9rique : on trouve au dos de chaque miroir hexagonal de nombreux v\u00e9rins actionn\u00e9s plusieurs centaines de fois par seconde par des moteurs, les ordres \u00e9tant donn\u00e9s par des ordinateurs depuis la salle de commandes.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery
