La preuve avec le\u00a0<em>Swedish\u2013ESO Submillimetre Telescope<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le SEST (<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/teles-instr\/lasilla\/swedish\/\" target=\"_blank\">Swedish-ESO Submillimetre Telescope<\/a><\/em>) est un radiot\u00e9lescope qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en service en 1987 \u00e0 2400 m\u00e8tres d&#8217;altitude dans les Andes chiliennes (c&#8217;\u00e9tait \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9poque\u00a0le seul grand t\u00e9lescope d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#8217;astronomie submillim\u00e9trique install\u00e9 dans l&#8217;h\u00e9misph\u00e8re sud). Son antenne de 15 m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre ressemble beaucoup \u00e0 celles qui constituent le r\u00e9seau <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/06\/22\/premiere-decouverte-pour-le-radiotelescope-noema\/\" target=\"_blank\">NOEMA <\/a>dans les Hautes-Alpes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/07\/eso.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[3252]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3253\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/07\/eso-450x300.jpg\" alt=\"eso\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/07\/eso-450x300.jpg 450w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/07\/eso-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/07\/eso.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mais depuis 2003 le SEST est abandonn\u00e9, d\u00e9pass\u00e9 technologiquement par des r\u00e9seaux d&#8217;antennes beaucoup plus performants comme <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mpifr-bonn.mpg.de\/apex\" target=\"_blank\">APEX<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/05\/31\/alma-deploie-ses-antennes-dans-le-desert-datacama\/\" target=\"_blank\">ALMA<\/a>\u00a0ou encore <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/07\/28\/le-plus-grand-radiotelescope-du-monde-sera-chinois\/\" target=\"_blank\">FAST<\/a>, le plus grand radiot\u00e9lescope actuellement en construction en Chine.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->De ses 16 ans d&#8217;activit\u00e9, on retiendra du SEST qu&#8217;il a d\u00e9couvert l&#8217;endroit le plus froid de l&#8217;Univers (-272\u00b0 C, soit 1 degr\u00e9 seulement au-dessus du z\u00e9ro absolu)\u00a0dans une n\u00e9buleuse\u00a0protoplan\u00e9taire situ\u00e9e \u00e0 5000 ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re de la Terre au sein de la constellation australe du Centaure, la n\u00e9buleuse du Boomerang .<\/p>\n<p>Le photographe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/santerne\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alexandre Santerne<\/a>\u00a0a immortalis\u00e9 la belle endormie au cours d&#8217;une <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/france\/images\/potw1527a\/\" target=\"_blank\">rotation d&#8217;\u00e9toiles<\/a> de plus de 4 heures en combinant 250 poses d&#8217;une minute chacune.<\/p>\n<p>La coupole \u00e0 droite en retrait abrite un t\u00e9lescope de &#8220;seulement&#8221; 3,6 m de diam\u00e8tre, mis en service en 1977.
