Ce radiot\u00e9lescope se compose d&#8217;un miroir orientable de 200 m par 40 (\u00e0 droite sur la photo) qui renvoie les ondes c\u00e9lestes en direction d&#8217;un miroir fixe de 300 m par 35.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/05\/nan\u00e7ay1.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2806]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2807\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/05\/nan\u00e7ay1-450x283.jpg\" alt=\"nan\u00e7ay1\" width=\"450\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/05\/nan\u00e7ay1-450x283.jpg 450w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/05\/nan\u00e7ay1-1024x645.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/05\/nan\u00e7ay1.jpg 1429w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Les \u00ab\u00a0miroirs\u00a0\u00bb des radiot\u00e9lescopes n&#8217;ont pas besoin d&#8217;avoir une surface r\u00e9ceptrice aussi parfaite que les miroirs de <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2014\/05\/14\/en-images-les-telescopes-amateurs\/\" target=\"_blank\">t\u00e9lescopes\u00a0<\/a>; ils sont r\u00e9alis\u00e9s avec du grillage, ce qui permet d&#8217;en concevoir de gigantesques.\u00a0Le grand radiot\u00e9lescope de Nan\u00e7ay \u00e9tait en 1965 le plus grand instrument de ce type dans le monde, il est aujourd&#8217;hui le quatri\u00e8me.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Il fut construit sur un terrain de 150 ha qui servait depuis 1956 \u00e0 observer l&#8217;Univers en ondes radio, une sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 n\u00e9e apr\u00e8s la seconde guerre mondiale et port\u00e9e en France par le physicien Yves Rocard, p\u00e8re de l&#8217;ex-Premier ministre Michel Rocard et grand-p\u00e8re de l&#8217;astrophysicien <a href=\"http:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/magazines\/espace\/infos\/actu\/d\/astronautique-premier-anniversaire-martien-curiosity-bilan-francis-rocard-54187\/\" target=\"_blank\">Francis Rocard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>50 ans apr\u00e8s, la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.obs-nancay.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\">station de radioastronomie de Nan\u00e7ay<\/a> utilise toujours le grand radiot\u00e9lescope pour l&#8217;\u00e9tude des <a href=\"http:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/magazines\/espace\/infos\/actu\/d\/etoile-neutrons-masse-pulsar-determinee-juste-avant-disparition-56792\/\" target=\"_blank\">pulsars <\/a>et des <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/01\/24\/swan-et-lovejoy-deux-cometes-qui-se-ressemblent\/\" target=\"_blank\">com\u00e8tes<\/a>.
