Il scrute le ciel de l&#8217;h\u00e9misph\u00e8re Nord, pendant que son fr\u00e8re jumeau \u00e9tudie le ciel austral depuis le <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cerro_Pach%C3%B3n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cerro Pach\u00f3n<\/a>. Les deux instruments, op\u00e9rationnels depuis 25 ans, sont g\u00e9r\u00e9s par l&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aura-astronomy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AURA<\/a> (Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy). C&#8217;est avec l&#8217;instrument situ\u00e9 \u00e0 Hawaii que les astronomes ont pu suivre<a href=\"https:\/\/noirlab.edu\/public\/images\/iotw2604a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> la fragmentation de la com\u00e8te C\/2025 K1 (ATLAS)<\/a> :<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/02\/comet.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[22373]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-22374\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/02\/comet-450x270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/02\/comet-450x270.jpg 450w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/02\/comet-1024x615.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/02\/comet-768x461.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/02\/comet.jpg 1199w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On se souvient que cet astre chevelu avait \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert en mai 2025 gr\u00e2ce au programme <a href=\"https:\/\/atlas.fallingstar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ATLAS<\/a>. Puis la com\u00e8te \u00e9tait pass\u00e9e d\u00e9but octobre \u00e0 seulement 49 millions de kilom\u00e8tres du <a href=\"https:\/\/cnes.fr\/dossiers\/soleil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soleil<\/a>. Un rapprochement qui s&#8217;\u00e9tait finalement sold\u00e9 par une fragmentation pr\u00e9visible du noyau. Le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne avait \u00e9t\u00e9 enregistr\u00e9 entre autres par le <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/hubble\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">t\u00e9lescope spatial Hubble<\/a> et un instrument de l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.media.inaf.it\/2025\/11\/12\/cometa-dorata-frantumazione\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Inaf<\/a>. Il n&#8217;avait pas non plus \u00e9chapp\u00e9 \u00e0 certains astronomes amateurs, comme le fran\u00e7ais <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/denis.huber.AstroHub\/posts\/pfbid02DmEfDFCzRu43Cc7dhtNbMTXCTWyms9ujQLfiFdWye5en8RkyuaBL9RnPUBFuVzuZl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Denis Huber<\/a>. Dans le pass\u00e9, d\u2019autres com\u00e8tes ont connu le m\u00eame sort. On pourrait citer le cas de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/actualites\/comete-hubble-devoile-nouvelles-images-fragments-comete-atlas-79752\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">C\/2019 Y4<\/a> par exemple, ou encore celui de <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2025\/04\/21\/la-comete-c-2025-f2-swan-fait-pschitt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">C\/2025 F2<\/a>.
