Il s\u2019agit de WR 40, une \u00e9toile de type <strong>W<\/strong>olf-<strong>R<\/strong>ayet. Sa temp\u00e9rature de surface atteint 200.000 degr\u00e9s, soit pr\u00e8s de 30 fois celle du <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2024\/05\/15\/insolite-la-station-spatiale-chinoise-devant-le-soleil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soleil<\/a> ! Tr\u00e8s chaudes, tr\u00e8s massives et tr\u00e8s lumineuses, les \u00e9toiles WR \u00e9jectent de grandes quantit\u00e9s de mati\u00e8re avant d\u2019exploser en<a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/definitions\/univers-supernova-60\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> supernovae<\/a>. En combinant un grand diam\u00e8tre instrumental, un ciel exceptionnel, de tr\u00e8s longs temps de pose et une parfaite ma\u00eetrise du traitement d\u2019images, il r\u00e9alise d\u2019incroyables clich\u00e9s (voir par exemple la galaxie lenticulaire <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2022\/06\/09\/scene-de-cannibalisme-galactique-du-cote-de-centaurus-a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centaurus A<\/a> ou la n\u00e9buleuse plan\u00e9taire <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2022\/11\/28\/prodigieux-exces-de-vitesse-pour-la-nebuleuse-planetaire-ic-5148\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IC 5148<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h5>\u00c0 savoir :<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Situ\u00e9e dans la <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Car%C3%A8ne_(constellation)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">constellation de la Car\u00e8ne<\/a>, RCW 58 porte une d\u00e9nomination qui m\u00e9rite quelques explications. Elle fait partie du catalogue RCW, un recueil d\u2019environ 200 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/definitions\/univers-nebuleuse-50\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">n\u00e9buleuses<\/a> en \u00e9mission du ciel austral. Ce catalogue a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 1960 par les astronomes<strong>\u00a0R<\/strong>odgers,\u00a0<strong>C<\/strong>ampbell et\u00a0<strong>W<\/strong>hiteoak.<\/li>\n<li>Les <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%C3%89toile_Wolf-Rayet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00e9toiles WR<\/a> portent les noms de Charles <strong>W<\/strong>olf et Georges <strong>R<\/strong>ayet, deux astronomes de l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/observatoiredeparis.psl.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Observatoire de Paris<\/a>, qui les ont observ\u00e9es pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 1867. Il existe quelques milliers d&#8217;\u00e9toiles WR sur les 200 \u00e0 400 milliards d\u2019\u00e9toiles de notre galaxie.
