Haut plateau volcanique qui s\u2019est form\u00e9 il y a trois milliards d\u2019ann\u00e9es,\u00a0<em>Syrtis Major<\/em> a un aspect sombre caract\u00e9ristique. Il en profite pour mesurer le temps qu\u2019elle met pour repasser au m\u00e9ridien et estime la p\u00e9riode de rotation de Mars \u00e0 24 heures.\u00a0 On sait aujourd&#8217;hui que cette p\u00e9riode est de 24 heures et 36 minutes. <!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>Des changements de coloration :<\/h5>\n<p><span id=\"more-12572\"><\/span>D\u2019autres apr\u00e8s lui vont dessiner\u00a0<em>Syrtis Major<\/em> quand elle se pr\u00e9sente face \u00e0 nous, en sp\u00e9culant sur sa nature. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2018\/02\/26\/traces-de-lastronome-camille-flammarion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Camille Flammarion<\/a> pensait qu\u2019il s\u2019agissait d\u2019une vaste \u00e9tendue liquide, la mer du Sablier. Les modifications de sa surface \u00e9taient attribu\u00e9es \u00e0 des inondations lors de la mont\u00e9e des eaux. Ces variations d\u2019aspect sont en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 provoqu\u00e9es par les vents. Leurs clich\u00e9s montrent \u00e9galement les nuages qui recouvrent la calotte polaire et probablement le volcan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nirgal.net\/moc\/mgs_volcans_elysium.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elysium Mons<\/a> \u00e0 droite.
