Schwassmann et A. Wachmann d\u00e9couvrent une <a href=\"https:\/\/cometography.com\/pcomets\/029p.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">com\u00e8te<\/a> \u00e0 l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.physik.uni-hamburg.de\/hs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Observatoire de Hambourg<\/a> (Allemagne). L\u2019astre chevelu, surnomm\u00e9 29P\/S-W, orbite un peu au del\u00e0 de <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2022\/12\/12\/fascinant-le-telescope-hubble-nous-invite-a-zoomer-sur-jupiter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jupiter<\/a>, avec une p\u00e9riode de 14,7 ans. C\u2019est une tr\u00e8s grosse com\u00e8te d\u2019environ 60 kilom\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre qui conna\u00eet de brusques sursauts d\u2019\u00e9clat. Il arrive qu&#8217;en quelques semaines sa luminosit\u00e9 saute de la <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2017\/05\/06\/quest-lechelle-magnitudes-astronomie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">magnitude<\/a> 16 \u00e0 la magnitude 10. Des sursauts d\u2019\u00e9clat qui pourraient s&#8217;expliquer par le cryovolcanisme (un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne que l&#8217;on observe \u00e9galement sur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/actualites\/titan-volcans-crachent-laves-glacees-titan-plus-grande-lune-saturne-49038\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Titan<\/a>). Mais ils n&#8217;avaient pas encore eu l&#8217;opportunit\u00e9 d&#8217;observer le tout d\u00e9but d&#8217;une \u00e9ruption. C&#8217;est d\u00e9sormais chose faite.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>Signal d&#8217;alerte :<\/h5>\n<p>L\u2019astronome\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/britastro.org\/forums\/users\/richard-miles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richard Miles<\/a> s\u2019int\u00e9resse particuli\u00e8rement au comportement de la com\u00e8te 29P\/S-W. Il rassemble toutes les informations \u00e0 son sujet dans <a href=\"https:\/\/britastro.org\/node\/25120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mission 29P<\/a>. Il raconte que le 1er avril, l&#8217;\u00e9clat de la com\u00e8te a diminu\u00e9, signe que la cro\u00fbte du noyau \u00e9tait devenue herm\u00e9tique \u00e0 tout d\u00e9gazage.
