Abell 31 ne se d\u00e9voile que dans les instruments de grand diam\u00e8tre (voir le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deepsky-drawings.com\/abell-31\/dsdlang\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dessin de Bertrand Laville<\/a>). Quant aux astrophotographes, il leur faut accumuler de multiples poses pour restituer l&#8217;aspect de cette discr\u00e8te n\u00e9buleuse plan\u00e9taire. En th\u00e9orie, c\u2019est l&#8217;une des plus grosses n\u00e9buleuses plan\u00e9taires (NP) observables. En pratique, sa <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2017\/05\/06\/quest-lechelle-magnitudes-astronomie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">magnitude<\/a> de 12 la r\u00e9serve aux observateurs les mieux \u00e9quip\u00e9s. C&#8217;est la 31eme NP du catalogue publi\u00e9 en 1958 par l\u2019astronome am\u00e9ricain George Ogden Abell.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>\u00c0 propos des n\u00e9buleuses plan\u00e9taires :<\/h5>\n<p>Les n\u00e9buleuses plan\u00e9taires repr\u00e9sentent une \u00e9tape dans la vieillesse des \u00e9toiles de moins de huit masses solaires. Lorsqu&#8217;elles passent du stade de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/definitions\/univers-geante-rouge-3731\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">g\u00e9ante rouge<\/a> \u00e0 celui de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/definitions\/univers-naine-blanche-28\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">naine blanche<\/a>, ces \u00e9toiles expulsent une coquille de gaz en expansion. Ce gaz devient lumineux car il est ionis\u00e9 par les photons ultraviolets qui s&#8217;\u00e9chappent de l&#8217;astre br\u00fblant. Ce processus est en cours depuis longtemps dans Abell 31.
