Prenez par exemple celles dont la taille est comparable \u00e0 notre Soleil : apr\u00e8s une dizaine de milliards d&#8217;ann\u00e9es \u00e0 fusionner de l&#8217;hydrog\u00e8ne en h\u00e9lium, elles connaissent une m\u00e9tamorphose radicale. Elles s&#8217;\u00e9chauffent, gonflent et prennent une teinte pourpre. La plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre est sans aucun doute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/actualites\/etoile-il-passe-betelgeuse-satellite-meteo-tout-vu-79164\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">B\u00e9telgeuse<\/a>. La deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9toile la plus brillante d&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2021\/05\/05\/la-constellation-dorion-se-couche-depuis-les-iles-andaman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Orion<\/a> avait connu d\u00e9but 2020 une spectaculaire baisse d&#8217;\u00e9clat. Toutes les \u00e9toiles g\u00e9antes rouges sont condamn\u00e9es \u00e0 devenir de superbes <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2020\/01\/20\/moisson-de-nebuleuses-planetaires-pour-deux-amateurs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">n\u00e9buleuses plan\u00e9taires<\/a>. <!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>Instant d\u00e9cisif :<\/h5>\n<p>Les astronomes n&#8217;avaient encore jamais assist\u00e9 \u00e0 la m\u00e9tamorphose d&#8217;une g\u00e9ante rouge en n\u00e9buleuse plan\u00e9taire. Ce stade \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re (quelques milliers d&#8217;ann\u00e9es seulement), c&#8217;est ce que nous montre la n\u00e9buleuse de la Calebasse. Situ\u00e9e \u00e0 5.000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/definitions\/univers-annee-lumiere-17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re<\/a> dans la constellation australe de la Poupe, elle nous r\u00e9v\u00e8le la fin dramatique d&#8217;un \u00e9toile \u00e0 l&#8217;agonie. L&#8217;astre souffle dans l&#8217;espace environnant ses couches externes. D&#8217;apr\u00e8s les astronomes, l&#8217;\u00e9jection de mati\u00e8re a d\u00e9but\u00e9 il y a environ 800 ans. Dans un millier d&#8217;ann\u00e9es, tout sera termin\u00e9 : la Calebasse sera devenue une n\u00e9buleuse plan\u00e9taire.
