Ce qu&#8217;il observe dans la constellation de l&#8217;Hydre ressemble \u00e0 une magnifique collision cosmique. On y voit deux <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/definitions\/univers-galaxie-spirale-42\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">galaxies spirales<\/a> dont les bras se superposent all\u00e8grement. Les grands t\u00e9lescopes construits au XXe si\u00e8cle nous offrent d&#8217;\u00e9tonnantes images de ces collisions. \u00c0 l&#8217;image de\u00a0 l&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2021\/07\/07\/objet-de-mayall-un-combat-de-titans-dans-la-grande-ourse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">objet de Mayall<\/a> dans la Grande Ourse. Pourtant, \u00e0 partir des ann\u00e9es 1960, le doute s&#8217;installe progressivement concernant NGC 3314.<\/p>\n<h5>Perspective trompeuse :<\/h5>\n<p>Lorsque des galaxies interagissent, les forces de mar\u00e9e gravitationnelles \u00e9tirent les bellig\u00e9rants et leur donnent des formes torsad\u00e9es. La collision d\u00e9clenche \u00e9galement des flamb\u00e9es de naissances stellaires qui se traduisent par une profusion d&#8217;\u00e9toiles bleues brillantes et de nuages \u200b\u200bde gaz. La premi\u00e8re est situ\u00e9e \u00e0 110 millions d&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/definitions\/univers-annee-lumiere-17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re<\/a>, la seconde \u00e0 140 millions. Par un incroyable concours de circonstance, elles sont parfaitement align\u00e9es quand on les observe depuis la Terre !<\/p>\n<h5>\u00c0 savoir :<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>NGC 3314 n&#8217;est pas vraiment \u00e0 la port\u00e9e de tous les instruments d&#8217;astronomie. Sa <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2017\/05\/06\/quest-lechelle-magnitudes-astronomie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">magnitude<\/a> de 12,5 la r\u00e9serve aux t\u00e9lescopes de grand diam\u00e8tre. Le portrait de cet objet cosmique est visible en d\u00e9tail sur la page du <a href=\"https:\/\/esahubble.org\/images\/heic1208a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">t\u00e9lescope spatial Hubble<\/a> et sur celle du <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/france\/images\/potw2145a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Very Large Telescope<\/em><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Le sigle NGC fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 l\u2019imposant <em>New General Catalogue of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars<\/em> qui regroupe pr\u00e8s de 8.000 objets du ciel profond.
