Financ\u00e9 \u00e0 90 % par l&#8217;Espagne, il est install\u00e9 sur l&#8217;\u00eele de La Palma, \u00e0 2.396 m\u00e8tres d&#8217;altitude. Son miroir primaire est constitu\u00e9 d&#8217;un assemblage de 36 miroirs hexagonaux. C&#8217;est l&#8217;\u00e9quivalent d&#8217;un miroir sph\u00e9rique de 10,4 m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre. Le GTC est actuellement le second plus grand t\u00e9lescope du monde. En attendant, le GTC fournit des images exceptionnelles comme celle de Messier 11.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>L&#8217;amas du Canard Sauvage :<\/h5>\n<p>Messier 11, l&#8217;amas du Canard Sauvage (ou NGC 6705) a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert par l&#8217;astronome allemand Gottfried Kirch en 1681. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/actualites\/astronomie-astronomie-catalogue-messier-250-ans-16597\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles Messier<\/a> l&#8217;a inclus dans son c\u00e9l\u00e8bre catalogue en 1764. Cet amas ouvert est l&#8217;un des plus imposants que nous connaissions. Il compte environ 3.000 \u00e9toiles. Les \u00e9toiles bleues au centre sont les plus jeunes et les plus chaudes, les rouges sont les plus \u00e2g\u00e9es et les plus froides.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/amas2.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[13418]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-13422\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/amas2-408x450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"408\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/amas2-408x450.jpg 408w, https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/amas2.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 408px) 100vw, 408px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Situ\u00e9 \u00e0 un peu plus de 6.000 ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re dans la constellation de l&#8217;\u00c9cu de Sobieski (<em>Scutum<\/em>), Messier 11 a une <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2017\/05\/06\/quest-lechelle-magnitudes-astronomie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">magnitude<\/a> de 5,8. Son diam\u00e8tre apparent, l&#8217;\u00e9quivalent de la moiti\u00e9 de la <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2021\/04\/19\/non-il-ny-aura-pas-de-super-lune-rose-la-nuit-du-26-au-27-avril\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pleine Lune<\/a>, le montre comme une petite tache floue dans une <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2017\/12\/10\/longue-vue-bon-choix-debuter-astronomie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">longue-vue<\/a>. Un autre amas d&#8217;\u00e9toiles est observable juste \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9, <a href=\"http:\/\/messier.obspm.fr\/f\/m026.html\">Messier 26<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5>Les amas ouverts ne sont pas \u00e9ternels :<\/h5>\n<p>Les astronomes pensent que Messier 11 s&#8217;est form\u00e9 il y a environ 300 millions d&#8217;ann\u00e9es. L&#8217;espace entre les \u00e9toiles qui le composent est en moyenne d&#8217;une ann\u00e9e-lumi\u00e8re, ce qui en fait l&#8217;un des amas ouverts les plus denses que nous connaissions.
