En 2020 l\u2019inclinaison de la Plan\u00e8te rouge nous permet d&#8217;observer le p\u00f4le sud en train de fondre en partie. Elles intrigu\u00e8rent plus tard les observateurs comme <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2018\/02\/26\/traces-de-lastronome-camille-flammarion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Camille Flammarion<\/a> ou <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2018\/11\/27\/percival-lowell-lhomme-qui-aimait-trop-la-planete-mars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Percival Lowell.<\/a>\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>Calottes permanentes ou saisonni\u00e8res\u00a0 :<\/h5>\n<p>On distingue aujourd&#8217;hui les calottes saisonni\u00e8res (en hiver) et celles r\u00e9siduelles (ou permanentes) en \u00e9t\u00e9. Les premi\u00e8res sont bien entendu les plus \u00e9tendues. La calotte r\u00e9siduelle est compos\u00e9e d&#8217;un empilement de couches de glace et de poussi\u00e8re. L&#8217;ensemble mesure plusieurs kilom\u00e8tres d\u2019\u00e9paisseur. Cette sublimation laisse appara\u00eetre les remparts de plusieurs d\u00e9pressions. Des fosses dont les plus petites sur cette \u00e9tonnante image mesurent une cinquantaine de m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre.
