Il est con\u00e7u pour fournir directement des images des <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2015\/06\/16\/tom-wagg-decouvreur-dune-exoplanete-a-lage-de-15-ans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plan\u00e8tes extrasolaires<\/a> ainsi que leurs caract\u00e9ristiques spectrales et colorim\u00e9triques.\u00a0C\u2019est sous la responsabilit\u00e9 de l\u2019<a href=\"http:\/\/ipag.osug.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institut de Plan\u00e9tologie et d\u2019Astrophysique de Grenoble<\/a> que cet instrument a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u par un consortium d\u2019astronomes et d\u2019ing\u00e9nieurs europ\u00e9ens.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Un oeil sur les autres mondes\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"474\" height=\"266\" src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player.html?video=x2xe3bh&#038;\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Il y a quelques jours SPHERE nous offrait <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/actualites\/etoile-betelgeuse-nous-revele-cette-nouvelle-image-supergeante-rouge-79617\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">une surprenante nouvelle image de l&#8217;\u00e9toile B\u00e9telgeuse<\/a>. Cette fois l&#8217;instrument l\u00e8ve (un peu) le voile sur la surface de l&#8217;ast\u00e9ro\u00efde Pallas (voir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eso.org\/public\/france\/images\/potw2008a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">l&#8217;article de l&#8217;ESO<\/a>).<!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>Pallas, un ast\u00e9ro\u00efde inaccessible :<\/h5>\n<p>Au printemps 2019 la NASA avait \u00e9tudi\u00e9 un temps l&#8217;opportunit\u00e9 de financer une petite mission \u00e0 destination de Pallas. Car si la sonde <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2016\/03\/24\/sonde-dawn-zoome-letrange-cratere-occator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dawn<\/a> a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2016\/02\/03\/en-video-le-survol-en-couleurs-de-la-surface-de-ceres\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">C\u00e9r\u00e8s <\/a>et <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2014\/11\/22\/lasteroide-vesta-cartographie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vesta<\/a>, aucun engin spatial ne s&#8217;est approch\u00e9 de Pallas, le troisi\u00e8me plus gros ast\u00e9ro\u00efde du Syst\u00e8me solaire (diam\u00e8tre moyen de 510 km). Tout comme ses deux grands fr\u00e8res C\u00e9r\u00e8s et Vesta, Pallas est une protoplan\u00e8te. Son \u00e9tude permettrait aux astronomes de remonter aux origines de la formation de la Terre et de la vie. Marsset et al.\/MISTRAL algorithm (ONERA\/CNRS)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h5>L&#8217;aspect d&#8217;une balle de golf :<\/h5>\n<p>C&#8217;est le 28 mars 1802 que l&#8217;astronome allemand Heinrich Olbers (connu pour son c\u00e9l\u00e8bre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/questions-reponses\/espace-paradoxe-olbers-ciel-nocturne-il-noir-866\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">paradoxe<\/a>) d\u00e9couvrit par hasard Pallas (il cherchait \u00e0 rep\u00e9rer C\u00e9r\u00e8s et les deux ast\u00e9ro\u00efdes se trouvaient alors dans la m\u00eame portion de ciel). Trois ans plus t\u00f4t le fran\u00e7ais <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/personnalites\/astronomie-charles-messier-822\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charles Messier<\/a> l&#8217;avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 observ\u00e9 mais l&#8217;avait class\u00e9 comme une \u00e9toile. Jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent les meilleures images de Pallas \u00e9taient celles r\u00e9alis\u00e9es en 2007 par <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futura-sciences.com\/sciences\/actualites\/astronomie-asteroide-pallas-vu-hubble-protoplanete-congelateur-20924\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">le t\u00e9lescope spatial Hubble<\/a>. Avec SPHERE les astronomes viennent d&#8217;obtenir un portrait in\u00e9dit de l&#8217;ast\u00e9ro\u00efde. Sa surface fortement crat\u00e9ris\u00e9e lui donne l&#8217;aspect d&#8217;une balle de golf. Ceci laisse penser que Pallas a connu une histoire marqu\u00e9e par de violentes et fr\u00e9quentes collisions.<\/p>\n<h5>\u00c0 savoir :<\/h5>\n<p>Si l&#8217;on pouvait se rendre \u00e0 la surface de Pallas et en \u00e9tant tr\u00e8s patient, on pourrait observer le transit des plan\u00e8tes int\u00e9rieures devant le Soleil. Ce fut le cas de la Terre en 1998 et cela se reproduira en 2224.
