La GTR (Grande Tache rouge) est un gigantesque anticyclone orang\u00e9 que l&#8217;on observe sur <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.futura-sciences.com\/feldmann\/2019\/03\/27\/spectaculaire-rapprochement-entre-la-lune-et-jupiter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jupiter<\/a>. Sa couleur provient de l&#8217;action des rayons cosmiques sur les mol\u00e9cules d&#8217;hydrosulfure d&#8217;ammonium qui remontent du fond de la Tache jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 sa surface. La d\u00e9couverte\u00a0 de la GTR par l&#8217;astronome fran\u00e7ais Jean-Dominique Cassini date de 1665. Un petit t\u00e9lescope d&#8217;amateur suffit d\u00e9j\u00e0 pour admirer cette formation nuageuse ovale. Lorsque les sondes Voyager la survol\u00e8rent il y a 40 ans, elle ne faisait plus que 25.000 kilom\u00e8tres. De nouvelles mesures r\u00e9alis\u00e9es en 2017 ont ramen\u00e9 sa taille \u00e0 16.000 kilom\u00e8tres. Parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 cette r\u00e9gression on observe un tr\u00e8s net renforcement de la couleur de cet anticyclone. En outre de tr\u00e8s nombreuses perturbations nuageuses apparaissent r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement dans le sillage de la GTR et s&#8217;\u00e9talent le long de la bande \u00e9quatoriale sud. Mais le panache qui s&#8217;en \u00e9chappe depuis quelques jours est totalement inattendu. La plan\u00e8te gazeuse g\u00e9ante se rapproche de nous jusqu&#8217;au 10 juin, date de sa prochaine opposition. C&#8217;est donc la p\u00e9riode id\u00e9ale pour suivre l&#8217;\u00e9volution de ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne. Si les astronomes professionnels ne vont pas manquer de diriger leurs puissants instruments vers Jupiter, les amateurs ont aussi un r\u00f4le \u00e0 jouer. Gr\u00e2ce aux progr\u00e8s de l&#8217;imagerie num\u00e9rique, ils sont suffisamment nombreux pour assurer une surveillance permanente.
